2024 Trans Agulhas Recap

Updated: Jan 7

2024 marked Pokerbet's exhilarating entry into the world of Powerboat Racing, specifically the Trans Agulhas Endurance Race.

The parallels between the mental fortitude, strategic prowess, and sheer thrill required for both this grueling endurance event and poker were immediately apparent to us. Discovering that these teams were essentially racing for kudos, Pokerbet had to step in and elevate the competition by introducing cash prizes for the winning teams for the very first time in the event's 36-year history.

Congratulations to Eben De Bod and Henco Nel 🥇
Congratulations to Eben De Bod and Henco Nel 🥇

To truly have some skin in the game, we had to sponsor race teams. We're incredibly proud to have had Team M49 Rola Ford / Pokerbet (Piloted by: Ben Viljoen & Nathan Els), Team 44 Six Gun Grill / Telectro / Infanta / Pokerbet (Piloted by: Wimpie Ackermann & Devon Henning), and Boat S12 Pokerbet / Easi Marine / Mako / Motul (Piloted by: Dean Kruger & Charl Stapels) join #TeamPokerbet.

After four days and ±700KM of intense racing, we want to celebrate all the incredible teams who gave it their all in what is the world’s toughest inflatable boat challenge.

A special shoutout to #TeamPokerbet, who consistently featured in the top 5, pushing hard to finish in podium positions. Here are the final positions for #TeamPokerbet in the long-haul events:

An extra special mention goes to the members of S12. Finishing 14th might not seem impressive at first glance, but considering that Dean and Charl were rookies racing a completely standard boat (Placing 2nd overall in Standard Class), their achievement is a testament to their drive and competitive spirit. Check out the incredible video below to witness their determination in action. Conceding pole position is never easy, but in moments like these, it's more palatable.

Kudos to Team S8's Robbie Jacobs, who risked it all to claim the win. Game recognises game. 💪
