A Bracelet for South Africa. A Win for Every Poker Dream.

Every generation has a player who reminds the poker world that greatness doesn't always wait for decades of experience.

In 2007, it was Annette Obrestad, who stunned the poker world by winning the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe Main Event at just 18 years old. That same year, Steve Billirakis became one of the youngest WSOP bracelet winners in history at the age of 21.

Nearly two decades later, South Africa has its own young champion.

At just 21 years old, Adriaan Jacobs has captured poker's most coveted prize, a World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet and cementing his place among the game's brightest young talents and giving South African poker another historic moment to celebrate.

His victory came in Event #78: the $600 Deepstack Championship, where an incredible field of 5,177 players battled over four gruelling days in Las Vegas. Entering the final day among the chip leaders, Jacobs displayed composure far beyond his years, navigating one of the largest fields of the 2026 WSOP before lifting the bracelet and collecting more than $280,000 in prize money.

For most poker players, a WSOP bracelet isn't simply another trophy.

It's the pinnacle. The one achievement every player dreams of.

It's the moment your name becomes part of poker history.

The Journey Makes the Story Even Better

What makes Adriaan's achievement even more remarkable isn't just his age—it's how quickly he's reached poker's biggest stage. Just two years ago, he was another ambitious South African player looking to sharpen his game. Since then, through relentless study, countless tournaments and an unwavering commitment to improving his craft, he's developed into a world champion.

Much of that journey has unfolded right here at home, competing regularly on Pokerbet, where thousands of South African players test their skills against one another every day. His story is proof that world-class poker talent doesn't have to come from Las Vegas or Europe. It can be built right here in South Africa.
